Taubmans All Weather vs Dulux Weathershield for Exterior

Both are water-based exterior paints made for Australian conditions. They differ in technology, guarantee terms and application limits.

Weather protection.

• Taubmans says All Weather uses Nanoguard Advanced Technology to resist UV, dirt and mould.
• Dulux says Weathershield’s MaxiFlex technology expands and contracts with the surface. It also lists sun protection, mould and algae resistance and colour-fade resistance. 

Priming

Both quote up to 16 m² per litre and a two-hour recoat.

• Weathershield is touch dry in 20 minutes. 
• All Weather is touch dry in 30minutes.
• Taubmans’ data sheet says not to apply below 10°C or above 35°C.
• Dulux says the temperature must stay above 5°C. Hot Victorian summer days can pass 35°C, so timing matters.

Guarantees

• Taubmans offers a lifetime guarantee on suitable, properly prepared surfaces and excludes failures beyond its control.
• Dulux guarantees Weathershield won’t peel, flake or blister while you live in the home. It excludes colour fade, substrate failure, commercial premises and non-Dulux coatings under or over the paint.

On exteriors, they match on paper: both quote up to 16 m² per litre. On interiors, Taubmans’ lists Endure at up to 12 m² per litre. Dulux gives about 16 m² per litre as a general guide for Wash&Wear and recommends at least two coats.

Coverage per litre is a best-case figure. You’ll get less on porous or new surfaces, rough or textured walls, previous coatings that need sealing and dark-to-light colour changes. Spraying also uses more paint than rolling. Always check the spread rate on the tin for your colour and base.

Which Is More Durable?

It depends on the product and the whole paint system, not the brand. Inside, wear comes from scuffing, cleaning and sheen changes. Outside, it comes from UV, rain and temperature swings that make surfaces expand and contract.
